Dr. A. Tsirimpa is a transportation economist and modeling expert.  She currently works as a part time lecturer at the American College of Greece and as an independent transportation consultant. She has served as the C.E.O. of the Institute of Shipping and Transport Applications K.M.Lo (IN.ST.A.L. S.A.)  (2009-2011). 

 

She has been a scholar of the European Reinforcement Programme of Human Research Manpower. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Shipping and Business Administration and a MSc. and PhD in Shipping, Trade and Transport from the University of Aegean. Her Phd thesis was entitled “Development of a Simulation Model of Individuals Activity Travel Patterns in an Information Rich Environment.”

 

Her areas of research include transportation systems analysis, transportation demand modeling, transportation and maritime economics, safety and security in shipping, market research and econometrics.

 

She has extensive experience in survey design, sampling design, and modeling combined Revealed Preferences and Stated Preferences discrete choice models, as well as latent variable models. She is currently conducting research on understanding, measuring, and modelling how citizens feel about security in ports, airports and rail stations, as well as measuring and modeling the subjective well-being of travelers. She has also conducted studies predicting the demand for container terminal operations and passenger shipping.

 

As a consultant she has worked on various transportation projects wordlwide, including Athens Public Transport Master Plan, Moscow Transport Master Plan, CERN Transportation Master Plan. She has provided consultancy and research services to  companies, institutions and organizations in Greece, UK, Middle East. She has a teaching experience since 2002 in post- and under-graduate programmes in Greece, as well as in professional training seminars. She has participated in international, European and national research projects. 

 

Dr. Tsirimpa has published work in international scientific journals and co-authored chapters in books. She has also presented more than 30 refereed papers in international and national scientific conferences, workshops and seminars. She has served as a reviewer in international scientific journals and conferences.
